Cherries require cross pollination as well as special chemicals to help break dormancy.    In the San Joaquin Valley we often have inadequate winter chilling hours.  This means bloom is not always synchronized between pollinators and the main varieties.    Situations like this occur.   The small tree in the center is the pollinator.   The larger trees are the main varieties.  This is a situation for supplemental pollen.
