The rain has finally stopped in the San Joaquin Valley. A near record rainfall for the month of April has made dust control a mute point. But in the past 10 days the temperatures have been climbing back to normal and our rainless pattern for the summer has begun. This means dust season is near.

California Dust Control can help you stop dust problems from developing though the use of our lignosulfonate. Lignosulfonate is environmentally friendly and safe to apply. It will last the summer with touch up applications. Un like oil it can be applied today and driven on tomorrow.. Also it does not contain chloride like the Magnesium Chloride products do.

California Dust Control will first give you a estimate on the cost of the job by examining the soil texture, length of the run and amount of traffic at the site. Then there are two ways we can assist you.

1 - Is by applying all of the lignosulfonate at the beginning of the season and touching up the road later in the season if necessary.

2 - The other is by laying down a base of 60% or so of what the road will need all year. Then applying a little at each road watering during the season. The advantage of this system is you can see how your road develops and make decisions as the season progresses. This could save you money.

When applying lignosulfoante it is important to have the back of the tanker applying the water with a spray bar and not a large spout. The spray bar is easy to attach to the tanker truck and applies the lignosulfoante- water mixture evenly over the road surface.

A recent conversation the author is this newsletter had in Kern County had a grower tell him that it cost him $ 300 a day (truck, labor insurance etc...) to run his water trucks. If you run one water truck 6 days a week that is $ 1,800 per week and $ 7,200 per month. That is serious money for a never ending task.
